AP & Advanced Courses at WCS
Challenging Students to Excel, Academically and Spiritually
At Wayne Christian School, we believe that God uniquely gifts every student with talents and abilities meant to bring Him glory. For students who thrive on academic challenge and are ready to push themselves further, our AP and Advanced Honors courses provide the rigor, depth, and college-level preparation they need all within a Christ-centered learning environment.
Our advanced course offerings aren’t just about earning college credit or boosting a transcript (though those are valuable benefits). They aim to equip motivated students to steward their God-given intellect well, think critically through a biblical worldview, and develop the discipline and work ethic that will serve them throughout their lives.
What We Offer
Advanced Honors Courses
These college-level courses are designed for highly motivated students who want to challenge themselves with rigorous, in-depth coursework. Students have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a head start on their post-secondary education.
Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Through partnerships with Judson College at Southeastern and Wayne Community College, qualified students can earn actual college credit while completing their high school requirements. Current dual enrollment options include:
- English Composition 1 and 2
- American Literature
- British Literature
- American History 1 and 2
- Various electives based on student interest and availability
Honors Track
For students who wish to challenge themselves with rigorous coursework across multiple subject areas, our Honors Track provides in-depth study that prepares students for admission to competitive universities while strengthening their analytical and critical thinking skills.
A Flexible, Student-Centered Approach
We understand that students are multifaceted. A student might excel in mathematics and desire a challenge, while needing more foundational support in English, or vice versa. That’s why we don’t lock students into a single academic track. Instead, students work with their teachers, parents, and our advisement office to build a course schedule that challenges them appropriately in each subject area.
Students can choose from College Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Honors courses based on their personal interests, faculty recommendations, and academic qualifications. This flexibility allows each student to take ownership of their education and pursue opportunities they’re passionate about.
More Than Just Academics
Taking advanced courses at WCS means more than tackling difficult material. It means learning to integrate faith and scholarship, to see every subject as an opportunity to understand God’s world more deeply. Whether studying advanced mathematics that reveals the order and beauty of creation, analyzing literature through a Biblical lens, or examining history to understand God’s sovereign work in human events, our students learn that pursuing academic excellence and pursuing Christ are not separate endeavors.
Our teachers don’t just deliver content; they mentor students through challenging coursework, model what it means to think Christianly about complex topics, and help students discover how their gifts can be used for Kingdom purposes.
Preparation for College and Beyond
Students who take advantage of our advanced course offerings consistently report feeling well-prepared for the academic demands of college. They enter university with:
- College credits already earned (through dual enrollment)
- Strong study skills and time management abilities
- Experience with college-level reading and writing
- Confidence in their ability to handle rigorous coursework
- A solid Biblical worldview to guide them through new ideas and challenges
But more importantly, they leave WCS with a clear sense of purpose, understanding that their education is not ultimately about personal achievement, but about being equipped to serve God and others with excellence.

“At WCS, I’ve been challenged academically in ways I never expected, but my teachers have also helped me see how everything I’m learning connects to my faith. Taking advanced courses has prepared me for college, but more than that, it’s taught me how to think critically about the world around me through a Biblical lens.”
