Statement of Faith
Our Doctrinal Foundation
At Wayne Christian School, our Statement of Faith serves as the bedrock for everything we do, from classroom instruction to campus culture, from administrative decisions to athletic competitions. These core beliefs unite our faculty, staff, and board as we partner with families to educate children from a Biblical worldview.
What We Believe
The Scriptures
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, the ultimate authority for faith and practice. Scripture is God’s revelation to humanity, providing everything we need to know Him and live according to His purposes. The Bible is not merely one voice among many but is the foundation upon which we build our understanding of truth, knowledge, and wisdom.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Triune God
We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is entirely God, equal in power and glory, yet distinct in role. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, sovereign over all creation, and intimately involved in the lives of His people.
God the Father
We believe God the Father is the eternal Creator of heaven and earth. He is holy, righteous, and loving, a perfect Father who desires a relationship with His children and holds all authority over creation.
Jesus Christ the Son
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became fully human while remaining fully divine. Born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, and ascended into heaven. Jesus is the only way to salvation and eternal life. He will return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s presence dwelling within believers. He convicts us of sin, guides us into truth, empowers us for service, and produces spiritual fruit in our lives. The Holy Spirit is our divine Teacher, enabling Christians to understand Scripture and live in obedience to Christ’s lordship.
Humanity and Sin
We believe all people are created in the image of God with inherent dignity and worth. However, humanity fell into sin through Adam’s disobedience, and every person is born with a sinful nature separated from God. Sin affects every aspect of human life and deserves God’s righteous judgment. Apart from God’s grace, we are unable to save ourselves or earn our way to heaven.
Salvation
We believe salvation is God’s gift, available only through faith in Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, not by our own works or efforts. When we repent of our sins and place our trust in Jesus, we are forgiven, declared righteous in God’s sight, and adopted as children into His family. This salvation is eternal and secure for all who believe.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, comprising all believers throughout history. The local church exists to worship God, teach Scripture, build up believers, and share the gospel with the lost. While Wayne Christian School is not affiliated with any single denomination, we joyfully partner with Bible-believing churches to fulfill God’s purposes for the next generation.
Christian Living
We believe that genuine faith in Christ produces a transformed life. Believers are called to pursue holiness, grow in Christlikeness, and live according to God’s Word. This transformation is a lifelong process of sanctification, empowered by the Holy Spirit as we submit to His leading and consistently hear and obey Scripture.
Eternity
We believe in the physical return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of all people. Those who have trusted in Christ will experience eternal life in the presence of God. Those who have rejected Christ will face eternal separation from God. Heaven and hell are real, eternal destinations.
Marriage and Family
We believe that God created marriage as a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, intended for life. The family unit, established by God, is the primary context for raising children and passing on faith to the next generation. We exist to assist parents, who bear the God-given responsibility for their children’s education, in raising young people who love the Lord and walk in His truth.
A Non-Denominational Foundation
Wayne Christian School welcomes families from various church backgrounds who affirm these core Biblical beliefs. While our staff and families represent different denominational traditions, we are united in our commitment to the authority of Scripture and the gospel of Jesus Christ. This unity allows us to maintain doctrinal clarity while celebrating the diversity of Christ’s body.
Our Statement of Faith reflects the historic, orthodox Christian beliefs held by believers throughout the centuries. These are not new ideas but ancient truths that have shaped Christian education and discipleship for generations. We stand on this firm foundation as we prepare students to make a lasting impact on their world for Christ.
Living Out Our Beliefs
These doctrinal beliefs are not merely statements on paper; they shape the entire WCS experience. Our faculty members are committed Christians who model their faith daily. Bible instruction happens in every classroom, not just during Bible class. Chapel services provide opportunities for worship and spiritual growth. Service projects teach students to love their neighbors. And throughout it all, we point students to Jesus as the source of all truth, the center of all learning, and the Lord of all life.
“In pursuit of wisdom and knowledge” isn’t just our motto, it’s our calling. We pursue knowledge because God created this world and invited us to explore it. We seek wisdom because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Together, we’re preparing young people who know what they believe, why they think it, and how to live it out with courage and conviction.
