Library & Media Center at WCS
A Place Where Faith, Knowledge, and Discovery Come Together
The library has always been more than just a room full of books; it’s a gateway to discovery, a quiet refuge for learning, and a place where young minds explore God’s world through the written word. At Wayne Christian School, our Library & Media Center serves as the heart of our academic community, where students from kindergarten through 12th grade develop a lifelong love of reading and learning while strengthening their Biblical worldview.
We believe that literacy is foundational to every area of learning and essential for understanding God’s Word. Our library program helps parents nurture students who read widely, think critically, and engage with ideas through the lens of Scripture. Whether your child is discovering their first chapter book or researching for a senior project, our Library & Media Center provides the resources, guidance, and Christ-centered environment they need to grow as learners and as disciples.
More Than Books: Building Lifelong Learners
Under the direction of our librarian, Beverly Deck, the WCS Library & Media Center offers students access to thousands of carefully curated books, digital resources, and educational materials that support both academic excellence and spiritual growth. From picture books that teach biblical values to research databases that prepare students for college-level work, our collection is intentionally selected to align with our mission of educating children from a Biblical worldview.
Students visit the library regularly throughout their time at WCS, developing essential skills including:
Learning how to find, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically, recognizing that all truth ultimately points to God as Creator
Understanding how to use technology responsibly and wisely in an increasingly digital world
Building the ability to investigate topics deeply, cite sources properly, and think critically about different perspectives through a Biblical lens
Strengthening the ability to understand, analyze, and engage thoughtfully with various types of texts
Cultivating a Love of Reading
We know that students who read well and read often are better equipped for success in every subject area. Our library program introduces students to high-quality literature across various genres, including historical fiction, biographies, science books, and devotional materials. We encourage both recreational reading and academic research, believing that they serve equally important purposes in developing well-rounded, thoughtful students.
Elementary students enjoy regular library time where they can check out books, participate in read-alouds, and engage in activities that make reading fun and meaningful. Middle and high school students use the library as a resource for independent study, group projects, and research assignments across all subject areas.
A Quiet Space for Learning and Reflection
In our busy school day filled with classes, activities, and social interaction, the library provides students with a peaceful environment where they can focus, study, and think deeply. Students are welcome to use the library during designated times for homework, studying, or simply enjoying a good book. This balance of active learning and quiet reflection helps students develop the habits of mind they’ll need throughout their education and beyond.
Supporting Every Student's Journey
The Library & Media Center serves students across all grade levels and learning needs. Whether a student needs help finding the perfect book to match their reading level, assistance with a complex research project, or simply a recommendation for something new to read, our library staff is here to help. We work closely with classroom teachers to support curriculum goals and ensure that every student has access to the resources they need to succeed.
For students in our SOAR Support Center, the library provides additional resources and accommodations to ensure all learners can develop strong literacy skills and experience the joy of reading.
Where Learning Comes to Life
At Wayne Christian School, we’re not just teaching students to read; we’re teaching them to treasure Christ in all they learn, train their minds to think clearly and critically, and transform their lives as they encounter Jesus in everything they do. The Library & Media Center plays a vital role in this mission, providing the tools, resources, and support that help students grow in both knowledge and wisdom.
We invite your family to explore all that our Library & Media Center has to offer as we partner together in your child’s education for the glory of God.
